Parenthood is filled with many joys and struggles. Parenting a child with disabilities is not any different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, when your child turns 21, some of the services relied upon for your child\u2019s basic needs, along with growth and development opportunities, are no longer available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Plan to attend the next brown bag as Kim Bainbridge, who retired from the Munroe-Meyer Institute, discusses the joy Justin, her adult child with Down syndrome, brings to her every day and the frustration she can experience trying to obtain the care he needs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cLabyrinth of Disability Services: How I Learned to Get the Best Assistance to Provide the Optimal Opportunities for my Adult Child\u201d is part of the Olson Center for Women\u2019s Health brown bag lecture series. It will be on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at noon through Zoom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Register by emailing the Olson Women\u2019s Health Resource Center<\/a> or by calling 402-559-6345. The Zoom link will be emailed to registrants prior to the event. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by University of Nebraska Medical Center and Olson Center for Women\u2019s Health. University of Nebraska Medical Center is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing\u00a0Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the health care team. The University of Nebraska Medical Center designates this activity for 1.0 ANCC contact hour. Nurses should only claim credit for the actual time spent participating in the activity. Course ID: 23OL00013.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
