{"id":96227,"date":"2023-02-13T13:52:00","date_gmt":"2023-02-13T19:52:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/?p=96227"},"modified":"2024-03-27T12:38:44","modified_gmt":"2024-03-27T17:38:44","slug":"writing-support-offered-at-chri-pediatric-workshop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unmc.edu\/newsroom\/2023\/02\/13\/writing-support-offered-at-chri-pediatric-workshop\/","title":{"rendered":"Writing support offered at CHRI pediatric workshop"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"panel body-content\"><div class=\"panel__container\">\n<p>Whether tasked with applying for a research grant, submitting a study write-up to a scientific journal, contributing a story to a medical publication or composing a work of non-fiction, most people would welcome help with writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Child Health Research Institute is planning a Winter Writers Retreat to meet this need and help attendees with all facets of their writing. The retreat will take place at Children\u2019s Hospital &amp; Medical Center on Friday, March 10, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event is part of the semiannual Pediatric Academic Workshop series, which aims to provide early-career pediatric researchers with the skills necessary to advance their projects and career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The retreat agenda will feature a mix of presentations by speakers and facilitated break-out groups. It will offer three tracks for attendees to choose from: academic, creative narrative and promotion and tenure. Experts from each area will be available to provide hands-on advice to attendees in each track. Attendees are encouraged to bring their current writing projects for review and focused writing time, or they are welcome to start a new project during the retreat.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Scheduled event contributors include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bud Shaw, MD, author of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Last-Night-Transplant-Surgeons-Odyssey\/dp\/0147515335\/ref=sr_1_1?qid=1674839186&amp;refinements=p_27%3ABud+Shaw&amp;s=books&amp;sr=1-1&amp;text=Bud+Shaw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&#8220;Last Night in the OR: A Transplant Surgeon&#8217;s Odyssey&#8221;<\/a> and former chair of the UNMC Department of Surgery<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Wendy Hind, PhD, JD, author of the book,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/francieandfinch.com\/events\/meet-the-author-wendy-hind-my-tattoos\/\" target=\"_blank\"
