Fund created to honor UNMC\u2019s Diana Florescu, MD<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Colleagues of Diana Florescu, MD, have established an endowed fund in her name, the Dr. Diana Florescu Infectious Diseases Clinical Research and Education Excellence Endowed Fund, via the University of Nebraska Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Donations in memory of Dr. Florescu, who died Jan. 27 at the age of 54<\/a>, may be sent to the University of Nebraska Foundation, P.O. Box 82555, Lincoln, NE 68501-2555. Please make checks payable to the University of Nebraska Foundation and include on the memo line or enclosed note that the gift is in memory of Dr. Diana Florescu. Those interested in donating can visit the foundation website<\/a> to make an online gift.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Florescu will be honored March 9 as UNMC\u2019s 17th<\/sup> Scientist Laureate<\/a> as part of the annual Research Awards Ceremony, which will recognize UNMC’s top researchers and community supporters of research. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

College community invited to EMET capstone event<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UNMC College of Medicine Enhanced Medical Education Tracks capstone event will be held on March 16, from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Truhlsen Events Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All faculty, staff and students from the college are invited to attend the event, at which EMET students will present the culmination of their four years in the EMET program. Some examples are research studies, teaching modules, artwork, and multimedia presentations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The enhanced medical education tracks offer medical students an opportunity to perform an in-depth study of an interdisciplinary field of medicine that enhances the required curriculum without extending the time needed to graduate from medical school. Students work closely with faculty mentors, residents and advanced students. Applicants are selected for the enhanced tracks based on their interest in the topic and their motivation to complete work above and beyond the primary MD curriculum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
