Every gift matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today is the last day of UNMC Giving Day \u2014 For the Greater Good. The inaugural giving day is happening now through 5 p.m., and supporters are invited to make a gift in support of the next generation of health care providers and researchers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than $67,000 in challenge funds has been committed by donors to causes at UNMC and Nebraska Medicine. The overall goal is to receive 1,000 gifts from UNMC alumni, friends and grateful patients to support scholarships, UNMC\u2019s colleges, student organizations and clinical partners and institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UNMC Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, MD, said that, to make the first-ever giving day a success, \u201cthe most important thing for all of us is participation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After that, he said, the next priority is to encourage others to give, whether they be friends, colleagues, students, parents or community members.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNo matter how small the donation or gift may be, it\u2019s incredibly important because it\u2019s a measurement of our engagement. It\u2019s a measurement of how important the medical center is to the communities we serve,\u201d Dr. Gold said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gifts can be made on the giving day website<\/a>. The giving day website also has a list of donation matches and challenges<\/a> and a page with all the giving options<\/a>. Anyone who makes a gift totaling $65 or more will receive a UNMC fleece blanket. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To honor UNMC\u2019s founding in 1869, the giving day will last for 1,869 minutes (about 31 hours).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
