The Munroe-Meyer Institute will be partnering with Special Olympics International on April 11 for a complimentary showing of \u201cAs Far as They Can Run.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tickets to the showing are free but must be reserved to ensure availability. Members of the MMI community are invited to reserve tickets here<\/a>. The film will be shown at Film Streams\u2019 Ruth Sokolof Theater at 1340 Mike Fahey St. in Omaha. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the film begins at 6:30 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The film, by director Tanaz Eshagian, is about three young adults who join a running program for disabled youth in Pakistan, hoping to shift perspectives in their rural community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The website Rotten Tomatoes describes the film as \u201can intimate look at disabled children in rural Pakistan who have been deemed useless by their communities. A verit\u00e9 portrait of three teenagers who manage to find some acceptance and a place in society through sports.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MMI Community Engagement Director Melonie Welsh said she was pleased to offer the screening as part of MMI\u2019s ongoing collaboration with Special Olympics International. MMI Director Karoly Mirnics, MD, PhD, is a member of the SOI board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
