The overarching goal of my research is to understand the fundamental principles that allow biomolecules and cells to generate and maintain stereotypical form. My work has practical applications in promoting the understanding of how the morphology and growth of biological tissue can go awry and potentially lead to diseases like cancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How I fell in love with epithelial cell biology and biophysics:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Throughout high school, I enjoyed science, especially physics. The aesthetics of being able to use just a handful of rules to explain a lot of the world around me was appealing. During my undergraduate training, I was exposed to the sheer number of unanswered fundamental questions in biology that impede the understanding of human disease. Since then, I have been on a mission to uncover the basic rules that are broadly applicable and determine biological function.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Education:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Postdoctoral research, Stowers Institute, U.S.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>PhD, ETH Zurich, Switzerland<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>MSc, TU Dresden, Germany<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>BTech, Anna University, India<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Three things people may not know about me:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All the cities I have lived in over the last 15 years are on the border of more than one state. Before moving to the U.S., I lived in a city that intersects three European countries.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I was part of a club team that defeated the national cricket team of the Czech Republic.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>During graduate school, I shared an apartment with four professional jazz musicians.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div style=\"display: none;\"><a rel=\"nofollow\"
