His victory is considered one of the greatest Olympic upsets.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Lakota, Billy Mills is called &#8220;Tamakh\u00f3\u010dhe The\u021f\u00edla&#8221; \u2013 &#8220;Respects the Earth.&#8221; Since his historic Olympic win, Mills has championed Native rights and supported tribal communities through his non-profit Running Strong for American Indian Youth.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2014, he partnered with Siobhan Wescott, MD, director of the NE-HEALING and American Indian Health program in the UNMC College of Public Health, to produce the documentary \u201cConquering Chronic Disease with Olympian Billy Mills,\u201d in which he shares his own struggles with diabetes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 38-minute documentary will be shown at noon on May 24 in a hybrid event in the Michael F. Sorrell Center room 3002.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Click here to register for <a href=\"http:\/\/go.unmc.edu\/ne_healing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">in-person<\/a> or <a
