Internationally Educated Nurse
Individuals who have received their nursing education outside the U.S. may find that their understanding of the health care system, the roles of nurses and interprofessional practice in this system, and the technology knowledge expected may be limited when one is not working in the system. The first step in working as an RN in the U.S. is achieving licensure as a Registered Nurse.
This certificate program is designed to assist the student to gain knowledge of the expectations of a nurse in the U. S. health care system. The certificate includes both in-class work and simulation/clinical opportunities. Content focuses on preparing the nurse to work in the health care system, culture and technology commonly found in U.S. health care settings. Clinical experiences may be tailored to the student’s specific needs.

Pre-requisites
There are pre-requisites for the program:
Admission requirements for the program
Unconditional admission may be granted to an applicant with a:
- Nurse license or other documentation from the home country that recognizes the individual as a registered nurse
- Transcripts and documentation of education and licensure
- Registration with the Nebraska Board of Nursing
- Preliminary English language scores are necessary for admission, but a specific score is not required. By the end of the program, students must demonstrate adequate English language scores to meet the Board of Nursing requirements (as noted on Board of Nursing website) through TOEFL, IELTS, PTE or other appproved examination.
