- Why were you interested in the Honors Research Program?
- I was fascinated when Dr. Hetland presented about her own work and found that I fit her description of a person well-suited for a PhD. Because I like understanding nursing practice on a deeper level and asking why things are the way they are, this program peaked my interest as an opportunity to dive deeper into the research that informs nursing practice.
- Project Title: Exploration of endogenous melatonin and puberty in children with neurodevelopmental disabilities
- Faculty Mentor: Alyson Hanish, PhD, MSN, RN
- What opportunities have you gain from participating in the Honors Research Program?
- I got to meet with a well-known PhD nurse scientist from Yale, meet the program directors for graduate nursing at UNMC and learn about the DNP versus the PhD, and present my work at UNMC, SOA, and MNRS.
- What has been the most beneficial part of participating in the Honors Research Program?
- I learned about the role of a PhD nurse scientist and found that I am interested in pursuing this career! I may never have known this had I not participated in the Honors Research Program, and even if I did, I now feel more prepared to apply to and graduate school.
