Promotion and Tenure

Key Deadlines

April 15:   Faculty members will notify the Promotion and Tenure committee chairman in writing the intent to apply for promotion and/or tenure and your areas of accomplishment by level in the year prior to when action regarding promotion or tenure will be deliberated. This should have been discussed with your supervisor and acknowledged on this form prior to submission. Use the appropriate April 15th letter linked below.
 
May 15:   Faculty members will provide a list of names with contact information of individuals who have expertise in their areas of accomplishment and will complete the Contact Information for External Reviewers and submit to the committee chair.
 
June 15:   The Promotion & Tenure Committee will meet to select external reviewers.
 
August 15:   CON faculty members promotion and/or tenure documents accompanied by the Department Chair/Assistant Dean’s support letter must be received by the Promotion & Tenure committee chairman. Policies and guidelines must be followed or documents will not be reviewed.

UNMC Transmittal Form for Recommending Promotion and/or Tenure. Faculty members holding appointments (paid or courtesy) in more than one academic unit, must concurrently pursue the documentation and review processes in each department in which promotion is proposed. Separate Transmittal Forms are required.
