Biography


Dr. Chaperon is an Associate Professor with a gerontological nurse practitioner (GNP) board certification since 1997. Dr. Chaperon has continuously maintained an independent practice since 2005, won an award in Excellence in Nursing – APRN from the National Gerontological Nursing Association, and the Spirit of Community Service – UNMC, both in 2012. She is known for her leadership in Interprofessional Collaborative Practice and Education across the Colleges and community, inducted into the Interprofessional Academy of Educators in 2017, and a leader in instructional design for interactive education of advanced practice nursing and pharmacy students.

  • Molecular genetics research.
  • Comparative Effectiveness Research on Models of Care to promote safe transitions from acute care into skilled nursing facilities.
  • Interprofessional Collaborative Practice and Education to build a competent and safe workforce for older adults in transition: Complex medical problems, geriatric syndromes, palliative care, advanced care plans, and more.
  • The effects of sleep-disturbing environments on late life health maintenance: genomics, epigenetics, water and electrolyte balance and blood pressure regulation.
