Biography

Throughout Leah Logan’s childhood her mother was in and out of the hospital and she noticed the healthcare team members that stood out were always nurses, motivating her to pursue a career in nursing. She attended Southeast Community College in 2012, earning an associate degree in nursing. Completed her BSN online through the University of Texas at Arlington in 2014. Then she went on to get her MSN in Healthcare Administration from Clarkson College graduating in 2019. She has worked in numerous areas of nursing including medical/surgical, ICU, emergency, LTACH and PACU/outpatient surgery areas. After graduation, she began teaching at Iowa Western Community College, where she taught for four years before changing to UNMC.

She enjoys teaching in both the clinical setting and the didactic setting. It allows connections to be made from learning about something in a “what if” scenario and then actually applying the knowledge for a client. She also includes very interactive discussions and activities in the clinical setting to assist students in tying the didactic to the clinical and promote critical thinking. She enjoys doing research that is beneficial to students and nurses, including burnout, testing, and grading research and it is her theory that all good research needs are discovered by talking to the students and nurses about their concerns or things they notice and then conducting research and then following up with solution guided research.
