Lisa A. Walters is an RN with a Master of Science in Health Service Management. She began her career in psychiatric nursing, then taking staff education/orientation and served as an Associate Director of Nursing before becoming a Hospital Administrator for seven years. She then spent the majority of her career in healthcare administration as Chief Nursing Officer in acute care hospitals. She has served as a consultant to hospitals and assisted with accreditation compliance, quality improvement, and finances. She joined UNMC College of Nursing Northern Division in 2016. She is passionate about introducing and embracing diversity, equity and inclusion into the UNMC culture and in her personal life. She is the Chair of the Nebraska Center for Nursing Board. She enjoys cooking, reading and especially her Grandchildren!
