Our Hospital Partners

UNMC College of Nursing has campuses across the state in Omaha, Lincoln, Norfolk, Kearney, and Scottsbluff. We have the opportunity to work closely with Medical Centers and Critical Access Hospitals to create exceptional clinical experiences using the DEU model. Partnering with rural hospitals to provide clinical experiences has the potential for a significant positive impact on the rural nursing shortage. Almost 75% of Nebraska’s nurses were educated in Nebraska (Nebraska Center for Nursing and Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, 2007). Based on research and personal communications, the DEU experience leads students to seek employment in a facility where they felt they were part of the team. This increases the potential for attracting new graduates to rural hospitals upon graduation. The UNMC CON is the first nursing program in Nebraska to implement the DEU.
