So that students can have maximum exposure to the breadth of the field of obstetrics and gynecology, the six-week clerkship is divided into three "blocks". Students will spend time on the Obstetrics Block (either at UNMC or Methodist Hospital), the Gynecology Block (at UNMC), and the Outpatient Clinic Block (at UNMC clinic sites). Descriptions of each of the blocks and learning objectives can be accessed below.
Students will work directly with the department faculty, residents, and fellow students as the provider team to facilitate care for women on the service. Resources utilized for learning include textbooks, weekly didactic lectures, grand round presentations, periodic teaching conferences, and online resources.
We value your input!
(A chance for students to evaluate the clerkship)
There are evaluations in OASIS that you will be asked to fill out regarding your rotation on the OB-GYN service. The department of OB-GYN will ask that you fill out a course evaluation at the end of your rotation. This evaluation generally takes 2-5 minutes to perform depending on your experiences. The College of Medicine requires that you fill out an online evaluation at the end of your OB-GYN rotation. You will need to complete this evaluation before any clerkship grade information can be released to you. If you have any questions about the evaluations or the process, please contact Kathryn Dybdall at 402-559-8093. Other evaluations are:
- Lab evaluation - there is just one evaluation to complete after the simulations
- Lecture evaluation - complete after each clerkship lecture
- Faculty evaluation - complete on each faculty member you worked with during the clerkship
