[MUSIC PLAYING] COURTNEY MCLEAN: When I was looking for jobs, Omaha was the only place that said, hey, I want to use the skills you learned and foster you. EVAN SYMONS: I actually did some subinternships at different places where I thought maybe I would like more originally, but after I interviewed here, I was really impressed by the hospital system. ADAM LARSEN: When my wife and I were preparing for fellowship, we knew it would be challenging. I think we were surprised by the friendliness of the people and the amount of support we've gotten from the community to help us both thrive professionally and educationally. CAROLINA GUERRERO DIAZ: Coming to the Midwest, I really like-- it does amaze me how you can find everything. Everything's so clean, a lot of parks, outdoor activities, really nice things to do. Food has surprised me here. COURTNEY MCLEAN: I actually started my family in Omaha, and now I have three young kids. And there's almost too much to do for them. And so it's like what do we do today. Do we go to the zoo? Do we go to the Children's Museum? Downtown right on the river is the Kiewit Luminarium. It's a science center. My kids are young, and I'm so excited to see all the things that they're going to be able to do there and learn there as they get older. VINCENT J. GONZALEZ: I was pleasantly surprised with the ability for us, especially as subspecialists, to provide collaborative consulting type care to a wide breadth of institutions locally, regionally, and then in multiple state areas. I think that can be hard to find. ADAM LARSEN: We get I think a unique sampling of pathology. COURTNEY MCLEAN: We're the only children's hospital in the state, and so we get all of the patients here. ARTHUR CHANG: Nebraska, the UNMC, Children's Nebraska in general, there's been a lot of opportunities to progress in a lot of aspects of my own career. VINCENT J. GONZALEZ: I honestly-- it's exceeded my expectations in terms of the lifestyle, the people, and the culture here.
