Jenna Allison, MD

Where did you go for Undergraduate and Medical School?
I went to University of Nebraska at Omaha for my undergrad where I was on the UNO volleyball team and majored on medicinal chemistry and liked Omaha so much stayed for medical school right here at UNMC!

Career aspirations:
I am still trying to sort this one out! But I definitely know I want to do both inpatient and outpatient medicine and be active in medical education. I also am very excited about starting my MPH classes this fall.

What was your first job?
My first job was on our family farm helping my dad lay irrigation pipe.

What is the furthest you've traveled from Omaha?
The furthest I’ve traveled so far has been to Budapest for my 30th birthday!

If you couldn't work in medicine, what would you do?
I would be an interior designer. I love putting design styles/ideas together and am obsessed with HGTV!

Best thing to do in Nebraska if you only had one day?
A food and drink tour! Omaha is a hidden “foodie” city with some AMAZING restaurants and fun patio bars for a nice happy hour!

Most fond fellowship experience or memory up to this point?
That would definitely have to be getting to assist with the first ever (adult or pediatric) bone marrow harvest for a sickle cell transplant at Nebraska Medicine and successfully getting a bilateral bone marrow on a 2 week old.

Why did you choose Peds HO?
I have always wanted to do pediatrics but once I got experience with HO kids, I knew that was the place for me. I love this patient population because they are some of the sickest kids in the hospital, but they have the best outlook! Getting to take care of these kids is a true honor and privilege.
