Pharmacy Student Wins National Competition

Becky SeebaSecond year UNMC College of Pharmacy student, Rebecca R. Seeba, was the winner of the American Pharmacists Association (APhA)-Academy of Student Pharmacists (ASP) National Patient Counseling Competition held at the 2007 APhA Annual Meeting in Atlanta, Ga. March 16-19. Ms. Seeba was the College’s representative in the national competition after winning its ASP Chapter competition. With nearly 100 percent membership, ASP is the largest student professional organization in the College.

Becky was one of ten finalists to compete in the final round of the national competition. All one-hundred two colleges and schools of pharmacy that were eligible to have a representative participate in this year’s competition competed, the largest number since the inception of the competition in 1985.

Prior to this year, the highest finishes by a UNMC pharmacy student in the national competition were first runner-up in 2000 and second runner-up in 1999.

Ms. Seeba graduated from Millard South High School and completed her pre-pharmacy coursework at Creighton University. Her father, Dale, graduated from the College of Pharmacy in 1974.
