National PTCB Pharmacy Technician Education

Completion of this Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) recognized course puts you on the path to earn National Pharmacy Technician Certification. Online learning consists of 7 modules specific to PTCB knowledge domains. After online module completion there is a virtual or in-person workshop for active-learning and award of course completion for participants who are successful in completion of these components.

There are many unique aspects to the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) recognized course such as the ability to complete modules at your own pace in an on-demand format. However, the true strength of the course lies with the experts who provide content delivery. A group of nine University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Pharmacy faculty who are experts within their topic field have prepared content material that is pertinent, innovative, and informative. Module content also includes industry professional guest lecturers who practice in various pharmacy settings.

Program Requirements | Cost | Enrollment

This course is delivered online with one workshop. Participants are expected to view the online lecture and demonstration video, review the handouts, and complete checkpoint assessments. Participation in an active learning, skills workshop is required to complete the course. This workshop occurs virtually for distance learners or in-person at UNMC campus (S. 42nd street and Emile Omaha, NE) for local learners.

While this is a complete at your own pace course, completion within 4 months from start date is expected. UNMC recognizes that special circumstances may warrant an extension on completion time.

Academic Integrity: Maintaining academic integrity is a vital concern of the College of Pharmacy and the UNMC academic community at large. Without strict adherence to the standards of academic integrity, the teaching and learning environment loses validity. Honesty and integrity are a major part of the fabric of professional and ethical standards. An individual claiming to follow professional and ethical codes of conduct would also be expected to adhere to the standards of academic integrity.

Learning is open 24 hours a day; you may access modules on any day and at any time of the day during your enrollment. You may also view presentations within the modules as many times as you like and access them from all mobile devices.

Recommendations for computer software, operating system (OS), and internet speed as follows. The course is delivered via web browser and requires downloading files and viewing videos which requires
  1. High speed internet access which allows internet browsing and video playback,
  2. Up to date web browser software (Windows IE, Chrome, Firefox or Safari),
  3. Windows OS 7, 8, 8.1 or 10 or Mac OSX systems and
  4. Recommended internet connectivity could be either cable, isdn or at a minimum a 1mb business connection.

COST
National PTCB-approved Certification Course fee $950
A $5 online learning access fee will be added to the above (required for all courses).
There are no required textbooks, additional testing fees or lab fees.
Pharmacy technicians employed with Nebraska Medicine and UNMC COP students receive a $10 discount.

SCHOLARSHIP
Nebraska Medicine offers a $500 tuition assistance award to selected applicants. Application submissions are due on the 1st day of the month you are planning to start the course, and can be found here.

REFUND POLICY
Participants are able to withdraw from the course before the first day of the official start date. Refund will be issued less a 10% processing fee. A written request for withdrawal must be made in attention to the director, Judy Neville.

AWARDING COURSE COMPLETION
In order to receive a Certificate of Curse Completion, participants must meet eligibility requirements, submit payment and enrollment form, and earn a minimum score of 90% on module and workshop checkpoint assessments.

Participants who successfully complete the requirements will be awarded a Certificate of Course Completion.
