Training and Resources
The Office of Postdoctoral Education encourages the development of transferable skills that are applicable across a number of careers. To help achieve this, we offer professional development workshops on building foundational skills such as writing and grant writing, public speaking, and exposure to alternative careers. We also partner with departments across UNMC and the University of Nebraska Omaha to offer our scholars the greatest variety and frequency of development opportunities as possible.
Our Postdoctoral Scholars also all receive Responsible Conduct in Research (RCR), Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI), and complete an Individual Development Plan within their first year in the program.
Office of Graduate Studies - Lunch & Learn Series
Taking place on the third Thursday of the fall and spring semesters, the Professional Development Lunch and Learn Series provides you with various seminar topics to help develop professional skills. Each event explores different ideas, all designed to help you create a skill set that can be used in virtually any career path. Time management, resume crafting, and negotiation are just a few of the many presentations given during these events.
