Paul Casella is an adjunct professor and consultant to the faculty at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine where he leads seminars, edits manuscripts, prepares speakers, and identifies and serves the advanced communication needs of the faculty. This workshop will focus on Writing for Publication, Writing Effective NIH Proposals, Strategies for Speaking for Success, and Effective Medical and Scientific Presentations. This webinar will demonstrate how taking a holistic approach to proposal development would help ensure success in grant funding. We will discuss how submitting early and providing supporting evidence of capable management, institutional commitments, commensurate compliance mechanisms, and other items can bolster the success of grant applications. Katherine Keiser serves as Interim Associate Director at UNMC Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and has a been a licensed mental health practitioner since 2012. She has taught Stress Management for the UNO Health Education department and presents on such topics including Healthy Relationships, Mindfulness and Stress, and Suicide Prevention. She will introduce the mental health services available to the UNMC community and speak on stress reduction techniques.

Jason is a partner at Kutak Rock who specializes in Intellectual Property Law. His clients range from “Fortune 100 companies to start ups and local professional services companies to rock bands and performance venues.” Sara is an Intellectual Property attorney who helps patent holders “identify their inventions and develop cost efficient strategies to best protect those inventions via either patent applications or maintaining the invention as a trade secret.”
