Thank you for your interest in postdoctoral studies at UNMC. We are committed to offering our postdocs an environment conducive to research. We strive to create an environment that is intellectually rewarding and will be a springboard to facilitate your transition toward independence in a timely fashion. The postdocs at UNMC published 672 first author peer-reviewed publications between 2005 and 2011. In a 2009 UNMC survey of postdocs, 94 percent regarded the lab environment and mentoring at UNMC to be positive. A 2010 survey published in Scientist Magazine ranked UNMC as one of the best campuses for postdoctoral training.
The resources and information listed at left will provide an overview of research activities in UNMC’s departments and centers and will help you become familiar with the different levels of postdoctoral scholars, as well as the obligations of a mentor and a mentee during postdoctoral studies and training. Do not forget to visit the “Postdoc handbook” which contains important information on salary, benefits, leave of absence and grievance resolution, along with a checklist for new postdocs.
