Biographical Sketch:
Sara Walker began her career in human services as a member of AmeriCorps in association with the American Red Cross. Sara has worked in disaster related services providing preparedness education to elementary students and responding to local and national disaster sites. At the time, Sara worked as an EMT for Midwest Medical Services. Sara volunteered as an EMT/Firefighter for the Carter Lake Volunteer Fire Department from 2004 until 2014. Sara worked for Nebraska Medicine in 2008, as a certified nursing assistant, then transitioned to working for the Iowa Department of Corrections. Sara received her Bachelor’s in Human Services in 2012 and her Master’s in Clinical Counseling in 2014. From 2017 to 2021, Sara worked as a rural Intensive Family Preservation Therapist with Jenda Family Services providing in home therapeutic services to family’s involved with DHHS and Probation. Sara returned to Nebraska Medicine in 2021 as a psychotherapist. Sara provides individual and group therapy using ACT, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, and Brief Solution Focused Therapy techniques. Therapy interests include: addictions, anxiety, and treatment resistant depression.
