Debi has worked as a social worker in Omaha since 2003. She started as a community support worker helping adults who were dealing with homelessness and mental health crises. Later she supervised a transitional housing program for adults with mental health issues. After graduating with her Master’s Degree in Social Work and Public Administration, Debi helped start up a new hospice care program while working for a home care agency. In 2012, she began her employment with Nebraska Medicine providing social work services on the inpatient psychiatric unit. After three years on the inpatient unit, she transferred to the outpatient psychiatry clinic, providing therapy services. Debi uses a variety of therapeutic modalities to meet her patients’ needs, including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). She serves as the Lead Clinical Therapist for the department and Core Faculty member for the psychiatry residency program. Debi has been instrumental in promoting and supporting the growth within the therapy division, as well as playing a lead role in the development of the department’s addiction services.
