Megan Sanders is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, and visual artist. She provides psychiatric evaluation and treatment for adults with a variety of mental health complaints. Areas of interest include mood disorders, anxiety disorders, ADHD, and Art in Medicine. Megan’s clinical practice is rooted in principles of holistic nursing and person-centered therapy with a focus on an individual’s strengths, attunement to social and emotional needs, and regard for one’s capacity for self-directed healing. She has four years of experience working with adults as an inpatient psychiatric nurse and one year of experience working with youth in psychiatric residential treatment. She also spent several months as a Community Artist-in-Residence at the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) program in Council Bluffs leading an art group for adults with severe and persistent mental illness.
Megan is an art enthusiast, and believes creative expression is a source of healing, growth, and transformation for individuals and communities. She is particularly interested in the role of art in stigma reduction, health promotion, and advocacy.
