[THEME MUSIC] JESSE BELL: Hello, my name is Jesse Bell, and I'm the Director of the Water, Climate, & Health Program here at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. It started through conversations with the Claire M. Hubbard Foundation and Anne Hubbard. This program provides us a unique opportunity to try to address some of the water quality and water quantity issues that we face here in Nebraska, and that is our focus. And when we're talking about issues related to water quantity, we're talking about climate-related issues such as drought and flooding, which we're very familiar with here in the state, and trying to understand what are those potential impacts on our communities and our populations here across the state as well. And when we're talking about water quality issues, we're talking about issues related to nitrate in our drinking water. We're also talking about lead, pesticides, and other potential contaminants that we're already facing here in the state. Our plans are to try to address some of these challenges through research, training, outreach, education, and also potentially policy development.
