Admission Requirements

• Completion of the SOPHAS Express Public Health application and submission of the application fee.
• Official transcripts reflecting an earned bachelor’s degree, with a 3.0 or higher grade point average for the last 60 undergraduate or the last 18 graduate/post-baccalaureate credit hours completed.
  • All non-US transcripts must be evaluated by the World Education Service (WES) using their ICAP Course-by course evaluation service. The WES ICAP Evaluation should be submitted directly to:

• Two letters of recommendation from academic or professional references 
• A one page resume/cv
• A one-page personal statement describing the applicant’s:
  • Interest in and potential for contributing to the field of public health and biostatistics
  • Career objectives
  • Self-assessment of computer, quantitative analysis, and personal skills and general preparation for succeeding in a public health certificate program
• All applicants whose primary language is not English or whose undergraduate degree is from a college or university outside of the United States are required to submit official Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores.

Application Process

• • Apply online through SOPHAS Express
    • Create an account and then go into "My Application" 
    • Select "University of Nebraska Medical Center, College of Public Health" from the drop-down school list and then choose the appropriate program option. 
    • Under "My Application" complete all sections listed and upload your personal statement and resume/cv.
    • Under "Supporting Information" - "Evaluations" 
      • Enter the names and email addresses of two recommenders 

  Note: SOPHAS Express will email the evaluation form directly to your recommender, who will then complete the form and submit it back o SOPHAS Express.

  • • Pay the application fee online directly to SOPHAS Express and submit the application.
    • Submit all official college transcripts to:

    • Send electronic transcripts to: coph@unmc.edu
    • TOEFL test scores to UNMC institution code 6896.
