American Statistical Association Student Chapter at UNMC

The American Statistical Association (ASA) student chapter at UNMC seeks to bring together students with an interest in biostatistics through networking, educational, and social opportunities.

This new student chapter will be kicking off at UNMC during the fall of 2017 and will be based in the College of Public Health’s Department of Biostatistics. Biostatistics impacts all areas of study at UNMC, thus students from all UNMC colleges can benefit from ASA programming and events. ASA programming activities may include, but are not limited to, lunches, guest speakers, workshops, job shadowing, professional mentoring, and social activities. ASA encourages students from all programs to join. This chapter intends to involve both distance-learning and traditional campus students.

With the start of a new chapter, there will be ample leadership opportunities for new or existing students. Elections will be held in September 2017 for president, vice president, treasurer, and communications officer. Additional appointed positions will include distance student liaison and ad-hoc event chairs.

Chapter dues are only $5 for the academic year, and students who join by September receive a free t-shirt and additional swag from the American Statistical Association.
