“To him who devotes his life to science, nothing can give more happiness than increasing the number of discoveries, but his cup of joy is full when the results of his studies immediately find practical applications.”
Message from the Senior Associate Dean
The UNMC, COPH office of public health practice was established in 2012 . I believe that becoming the healthiest and most equitable state in the union will require trusting partnerships and a collective approach that includes the entire public health system. The OPHP plays an essential role in this vision by working to build mutually beneficial partnerships between the COPH and our practice partners. We do this through providing technical assistance, workforce development opportunities, field placements for students, and Practice-Based Collaborative Projects.
Over the past four years the faculty and staff of the OPHP have provided technical assistance to over 30 organizations including state and local health departments, non-profits, federally qualified health centers, local colleges and universities, among many others. Additionally, over 500 individuals have participated in our workforce development opportunities. Finally, we have funded numerous students through our field placement program that has enhanced the capacity of both the student and the organizations.
We are committed to continuing to strengthen our relationships with you. As the senior associate dean, I invite you to contact me with any comments, suggestions, and needs. I hope to hear from you soon!
In good health,
