We offer two opportunities annually for undergraduate students in Nebraska to learn about careers in public health.
The week-long Undergraduate Public Health Workshop is offered every year in May. Designed around cross cutting public health domains, this course introduces undergraduate students from Nebraska to core public health areas as recommended by the Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPPH), which “recognizes that there is significant value in education in undergraduate public health regardless of a graduate’s ultimate career goal” (ASPPH, 2012).
The PHEAST Fall Visit takes place in connection with our college's Open House, and welcomes undergraduate students from PHEAST partner institutions (Chadron State College, Peru State College, Wayne State College, and the University Nebraska Kearney). This one day event introduces students to core areas and concepts of public health through interactive presentations from UNMC, College of Public Health faculty and staff.
