The Saving Faces: Art and Medicine exhibit, was displayed at the Weber Fine Art Gallery on UNO's campus. It consisted of 42 portraits by artist, Mark Gilbert. Each person depicted in the exhibition gave consent to have his or her portrait painted. Surgeon Iain Hutchison obtained Institutional Review Board approval to carry out the project.
In addition, each of the portrait subjects gave permission to exhibit the paintings in public along with these descriptive stories that explain what happened.
