The Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP) is a free summer enrichment program focused on improving access to information and resources for college students interested in the health professions. SHPEP’s goal is to strengthen the academic proficiency and career development of students underrepresented in the health professions and prepare them for a successful application and matriculation to health professions schools.

SHPEP at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) provides scholars with an interest in Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Public Health, and Physician Assistant with academic enrichment in the basic sciences and math, clinical experiences, career development activities, learning and study skills seminars, and a financial planning workshop. SHPEP pays for all travel, housing, meals, and provides a stipend!

The application for the SHPEP opens December 1, 2018 and closes February 15, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. ET. Admission is highly competitive so we encourage you to submit your application early! Applications are accepted through the online application at the national SHPEP program website
