College of Medicine

The UNMC College of Medicine has specific requirements and deadlines for many of the tasks listed on the New Student Instructions page. There are also important additional steps that are required. Please examine menu below thoroughly. 

Reminder: Check your UNMC email account frequently for important onboarding information. 

Onboarding Instructions

All incoming College of Medicine students are required to complete a background check no later than July 31. Background checks are administered through One Source.

Important Legal Name Notice

If you have changed your legal name within the past 90 days, your background check must reflect your new legal name in all sections. The College of Medicine cannot accept background check documentation with inconsistent legal names.

Steps to Complete the Background Check

  1. Access the background check form.
  2. Submit payment directly to One Source at the time of form submission (credit card required).
  3. After submitted, you will receive a supplemental email from CFSCR@Nebraska.govto complete the Nebraska Adult and Child Abuse Registry Check. 
    • Please monitor both your inbox and junk/spam folders.
    • The link provided in the email is unique to you and expires. One Source charges a fee to resend the email if it expires.

All official transcripts must be received by July 31.

Please order any official transcripts not already received by the College of Medicine.

Transcript Requirements

  • Transcripts must be official, complete, and include all posted grades and degrees (if applicable).
  • Hand-carried or student-submitted transcripts will not be accepted.
  • Transcripts must be sent directly from each academic institution via their official transcript service.

Submission Methods

  • Electronic transcripts: Sent directly from the academic institution to comadmissions@unmc.edu
  • Paper transcripts: Marked “official” and mailed directly from the academic institution to: UNMC College of Medicine Admissions

All students must obtain a UNMC student ID badge prior to attending the optional College of Medicine Academic Preparedness Program or the mandatory College of Medicine New Student Orientation.

  • Incoming students may begin obtaining an ID badge starting July 31.
  • Please review Photo ID Office hours, what to bring, driving directions, and parking information prior to your visit.

All College of Medicine incoming students must complete the White Coat Order & Program Response Form (available in late March) in order to receive a white coat at the College of Medicine White Coat Ceremony.
