The mission of the Gender and Sexuality Resource Center is to foster and promote equity, access, and inclusion for all genders and sexualities through education, resources, advocacy, and activism.
This office provides specific programs and services for women, lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer spectrum, trans spectrum, intersex, asexual, two-spirit, non-straight, and gender non-conforming (LGBTQIA2S+) peoples, and survivors of interpersonal violence at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) and the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO).
In fall 2016, UNO opened the doors of the Gender and Sexuality Resource Center (GSRC) in the Milo Bail Student Center. The GSRC actively serves to facilitate and focus on gender and sexuality inclusion at both UNO and UNMC.
The GSRC welcomes and encourages people of all genders and sexualities to participate in the center’s offerings. This consciousness raising, safe space cultivates an environment of educating, advocating, and activating the local community towards equity and inclusion.
The center provides collaborative support, access, advocacy, resources, and training on gender and sexuality based needs which includes, but not limited to, interpersonal and relationship violence, LGBTQIA2S+ inclusivity and activism, womynist/feminist organizing, men and masculinities, healthy relationships, bystander intervention, being an active ally, sexual and reproductive justice, reforming policies, pay equity, and so much more.
