Programs and Organizations

Lavender Graduation and LGBTQIA2S+ Honors

Lavender Graduation is an annual ceremony conducted on numerous campuses to honor lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, Two-spirit, and ally students and to acknowledge their achievements and contributions to the university.

Check back for information about upcoming Lavender Graduation events.

UNMC Student Pride Alliance
The UNMC Student Pride Alliance is a campus-wide Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Intersex, Asexual and Ally (LGBTQIA+) education and support group. Pride Alliance fosters acceptance of students, faculty and staff to create a more diverse and accepting environment. In addition, the alliance advocates patient care issues and health disparities that disproportionately affect the LGBTQIA+ community. The group meets regularly throughout the year, and meetings are open to all students, faculty, and staff.
LGBTQ+ Employee Alliance

The UNMC & Nebraska Medicine LGBTQ+ Employee Alliance strives to promote an accepting and diverse culture across the enterprise. In addition to providing mentoring and peer support to LGBTQ+ community members at UNMC & Nebraska Medicine, our activities aim to promote the well-being of LGBTQ+ faculty, students, and staff, as well as to facilitate on-campus educational efforts regarding LGBTQ+ issues.

Membership to the group is open and encouraged for all UNMC and Nebraska Medicine employees. Whether you're a member of the LGBTQ+ community or one of our supporters, all are welcome!

The Queer Omaha Archives

The Queer Omaha Archives preserves and provides access to the history of LGBTQIA2S+ life in the region. The archives collects, preserves, and makes available to the public material documenting the diverse people and organizations of the greater Omaha region and their experiences and work.

We welcome opportunities to share the material already in the archives with individuals and organizations and are actively seeking additional material for the archives. Contact Amy Schindler at the Criss Library for more information, to discuss donation materials, or learn about other ways to support the Queer Omaha Archives.

Safe Space Workshops

The Safe Space training is open to any student, faculty, or staff member who would like to be trained and publicly identify as an ally to lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans spectrum, queer spectrum, intersex, asexual, gender spectrum, Two-Spirit, and/or sexuality spectrum (LGBTQIA2S+) students, faculty, and staff.

This four-hour training provides education and tools to support the LGBTQIA2S+ members of our community. To register for a training, complete the training form.
