Prospective Residents

APPLICANT INFORMATION

Thank you for your interest in the Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Residency Program at UNMC, a fully accredited ACGME, 3 year independent model residency program. One position per academic year is available for match. We welcome all qualified applicants to apply.

Please do not fax, e-mail, or mail application materials unless specifically requested to do so. Unless specifically requested by the program, any materials received outside of San Francisco Match will not be considered. Applicants must submit all completed materials via SF Match no later than December 31st. Applications received after that date will not be accepted.

Requirements

With regard to single accreditation, osteopathic candidates must complete PGY 3-5 of their training in an ACGME accredited general surgery residency.

Interview Process
All applications are reviewed by the program director and selections for interview are made by early January.  If your application is chosen for interview, you will be contacted by the program coordinator via email to schedule your interview.  Interview dates are scheduled in early/mid March. All interviews are conducted via Zoom and scheduled for a half-day session (AM/PM).  Interview date availability fills on a first come first serve basis. Interviewed applicants will be evaluated by the Plastic Surgery Program faculty, ranked and submitted to the SF Match by the required submission date.  Start date for residency is July 1st of the match year.

*Candidate who successfully match to the program will be expected to pass their general surgery boards (oral & written) by the completion of their first year.

Applicants must register with SF Match to participate in the Match process.

Interview Dates - March 13 & 20, 2024*

 
*Candidates selected for interview will be notified early January 2024 via email. Interview dates are planned for half-day sessions (morning & afternoon) each day and will be conducted virtually**. Sessions filled on a first come first serve basis. A virtual social event the evening before is also planned to allow invited candidates an opportunity to meet our current residents and staff.
