Experiences of Young Carers in Oncology

About the Study

This research study seeks to understand the experiences of children who have a parent with cancer, with the goal of better supporting them. This will help to inform future research aimed at developing programs and services for kids who have parents with cancer. 

Expectations for Participants

  • A one-time only, confidential online survey about your past experiences as a child of a parent with cancer. The survey is expected to take 15 minutes to complete. Participants who complete the survey have the opportunity to be entered into a drawing for a Visa reward card.  
  • Additionally, you have the option to be contacted for a follow-up, one-time, confidential 45-minute interview over the phone. Participants who complete the telephone interview will receive a Visa reward card.   

Are there any risks to participate?  

Your participation in this research project is completely voluntary. You may decline altogether or leave blank any questions you don’t wish to answer. There are no known risks to participation beyond those encountered in everyday life. Your responses will remain confidential and anonymous.

Study Eligibility

The study is seeking individuals who meet these requirements:
  • Adult aged 25-45 who previously lived at home with a parent who had cancer while you were aged 8-24 
  • If you feel that your roles and responsibilities as a child changed due to your parent having cancer
