Food for Health Initiative

University of Nebraska President Hank Bounds, PhD has announced a university-wide Food for Health initiative.  This program is designed to increase multicampus collaborations and incentivize new research that will address critical food and health issues important to Nebraskans.

2017 Funding Opportunities

There are two funding mechanisms associated with the Food for Health Initiative for 2017.  Attendance at the Collaboration Retreat scheduled for Friday, October 28th, 2016 and declaration of intent are required to be funding eligible.  Register for the retreat here.  Can't make the retreat?  Contact Paula Turpen, PhD for instructions.  Need help locating a suitable collaborator?  Contact Dr. Paula Turpen for assistance.

The complete RFA can be found here.  UNMC PIs should submit their Applications to Deborah Hawkins (email) no later than January 13, 2017.  For Questions contact Paula Turpen, PhD (402-559-6162 or email).

2016 Funding Opportunities

There are three funding mechanisms associated with the Food for Health Initiative.

The complete RFA can be found here.  UNMC PIs should submit their Applications to Deborah Hawkins (email) no later than January 6, 2016.  For Questions contact Paula Turpen, PhD (402-559-6162 or email).

There will be a separate RFA for new FTEs linked to Food for Health (continuous POE money).  This will likely be due February 6, 2016, although the RFA has not yet been released.  Those FTEs do not have to be linked to a grant application but do require a statement of how the FTEs will enhance the competitiveness of the Food for Health teams or focus areas.

Retreat

The Food for Health retreat was held on the Innovation Campus Conference Center Auditorium in Lincoln on November 13th. Interested faculty and PI's of future proposals under the Food for Health Initiative funding mechanisms gathered together to form collaborative teams and discuss potential projects.  Did you miss the retreat?  Contact Paula Turpen, PhD for information.
