 File Sharing with Box

In some situations it can be preferable to have the PI install Box Sync on just his/her UNMC Windows PC. Windows file sharing can then be used to create a share to the Box Sync folder which staff can read/write to directly the Box Sync file location (i.e. \\the-pis-pc.unmc.medforest.org\Box_Sync) without creating separate Box Accounts or Box Sync.  When a staff member changes a file, the Box Sync app running on the PI's PC automatically syncs the changes up to Box, so they have a near-real time cloud backup and file sharing for the whole lab.

This only works when the amount of data is relatively small (fits on the PI's PC hard drive), PI's PC is powered on continuously, and the number of lab members is small enough to not exceed the Windows user sharing limit (5 -10).

File Size

The maximum file size limit for uploads to Box will vary depending on your account type:

If you got an Enterprise account through RITO then the maximum file size limit is 15GB.
