MEDICAL STUDENT EDUCATION
The UNMC Department of Dermatology is excited to welcome medical students to the field of dermatology. The Dermatology Medical Education Leadership Team is headed by Dr. Wysong, Chair of the Department and Residency Program Director. Dr. Megan Arthur, is the Director of Medical Student Education for the Department of Dermatology and the CSP and M4 Director for UNMC. Dr. Arthur is invested in the many types of learners that train in the department including residents, medical students, observers, shadowers and visiting students. Dr. Arthur and Dr. Wysong have worked diligently to develop the medical student curriculum and strive to provide clerkships and learning experiences that are enriching. Dr. Arthur leads the planning for each learner so they can have a personalized and high-yield learning experience.
Opportunities for medical students completing a clerkship include participation in didactic teaching sessions, departmental conferences, teledermatology, training with faculty that are experts in dermatology and offering real-world opportunities to see patients in clinics in general dermatology, multidisciplinary rheum-derm and HIV clinics, inpatient consultations, dermatologic surgery, Mohs surgery, venolymphatic medicine, and laser/aesthetic dermatology.
