The Medical Sciences Interdepartmental Area (MSIA) was developed to host graduate students from departments within UNMC who require a multidisciplinary/non-traditional focus that may not be provided by other graduate or professional degree programs and is intended for those who wish to pursue individually designed programs of an interdisciplinary nature within the medical sciences.  The MSIA program recently underwent a re-structure which was approved by the UNMC Graduate College and will be effective for all newly admitted students starting in the spring 2018. The program is now composed of six sub-plans with three department based sub-plans: Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Oral Biology (OB) and Clinical Translational Research Mentored Scholars Program (CTR MSP) and three newly developed Translational Research sub-plans: Clinically Relevant Basic Research (CRBR), Patient-Oriented Research (POR) with a thesis and non-thesis option, and Health Practice and Medical Education Research (HPMER)
