Preceptor Support & Resources
Preceptors and clinical training sites are essential to preparing Nebraska’s future health workforce. Our office supports efforts to strengthen and stabilize clinical training, particularly in rural and community settings.
The office supports the full preceptor lifecycle, from identification and onboarding through training, retention and recognition. This work includes connecting preceptor engagement with academic programs and workforce needs, supporting consistent expectations and quality standards and exploring strategies that reduce burden on clinical partners.
Recognition and Benefits of Being a Preceptor
Preceptors play a critical role in preparing students for practice and strengthening Nebraska’s health workforce. By offering clinical training experiences, preceptors help learners build skills, understand community needs and explore future practice opportunities.
Preceptor support also strengthens communities and healthcare organizations by expanding training capacity, supporting recruitment and connecting learners with potential future employment opportunities. Our work includes exploring recognition, incentives, funding strategies and employer support models that help sustain preceptor participation.
