Harlan R. Sayles, PhD, is a statistician in the department of biostatistics in the UNMC College of Public Health. He joined UNMC in 2009 after serving as a statistical analyst at Experian and the Nielsen Company.
Dr. Sayles is interested in survey design and implementation, in particular, causes of and methods for dealing with survey nonresponse. In accordance with this primary interest, he has been involved in numerous projects on and off campus requiring the development of patient or provider surveys and analysis of data from such surveys. He also works closely with faculty in the Division of Rheumatology to analyze large national databases of rheumatoid arthritis and gout patients.
This work is mainly focused on studying patient outcomes associated with various disease markers, comorbidities, genetic predispositions, and patient medical and behavioral histories.
