Catherine Pratt, MS, joined UNMC in 2019 and is an instructor in the Department of Environmental, Agricultural & Occupational Health in the UNMC College of Public Health. She previously was contracted through UNMC as an instructor for the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases.

Before her work through UNMC, she held roles wtih Public Health England as an Ebola laboratory team lead in Sierra Leone and as a senior research scientist in the United Kingdom.

Research Interests

Research interests include emerging infectious diseases, pathogen discovery and laboratory capacity building. Specifically, the provision of training and technology to implement next generation sequencing capability in low-resource environments, aiding research and surveillance of pathogens of global consequence. The characterization and phylogenetic analysis of novel, emerging and divergent pathogens using next generation sequencing informs diagnostics and improves population health.
