Charity Menefee is an associate professor of Public Health Practice in the College of Public Health, Department of Environmental, Agricultural and Occupational Health at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She has over 25 years of leadership experience in public health and healthcare, including as the state cabinet-level health officer for Nebraska and in local public health in Tennessee. She also served for over two decades in the Air National Guard, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2024. Her work has centered on public health strategy and policy, public health and healthcare emergency preparedness and response, and guiding leaders through complex challenges. She is especially committed to mentoring the next generation of public health professionals.
