Help revolutionize cardiovascular care and outcomes through the Cardiovascular Data Exchanges, known as CardX.
Through CardX, we are connecting heart health data so different systems can share it, using established standards and a core vocabulary.
Housed within the HL7 CodeX standards framework, CardX is an international project of the UNMC Center for Intelligent Health Care and supported by the Centers for Disease Control, the American Medical Association and leading healthcare organizations.
CardX Use Cases
Home Blood Pressure Monitoring
The El Rio Public Health Department in Arizona is serving as the first trial site of a CardX partnership with OMRON blood pressure monitoring devices, creating a data tunnel for blood pressure readings to an electronic health records system.
More About the Hypertension ProjectImproved Remote Device Monitoring
CardX is working to test improved monitoring of patients with Cardiac Implantable Electronic Devices, using guidelines-based management of hypertension with the Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources standards framework created through HL7.
More About the CIED ProjectWhy CardX and Cardiovascular Health Improvement?
Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death and disability in America. The CardX vision is to replace manual entry of patient data and siloed sets of data with standardized data collection systems connecting personal monitoring devices and electronic health records systems. This goal would achieve:
- Improved patient care.
- Reduced burden on clinicians.
- Consistent data across systems.
- Reduced risk of human error.
