MPH/MSW Dual Degree

Make the world a better place with the powerful combination of public health and social work master's degrees.

Make the world a better place and increase your career options with the powerful combination of the MPH/MSW dual degree from UNMC and UNO.

Why Study Public Health and Social Work Together?

Public health and social work are naturally complementary fields. This powerful combination gives you the cultural and communication skills of a social worker combined with the rigorous scientific training of a public health professional.

Public health social work is an integrated approach to preventing, addressing and solving health problems. The discipline draws on both social work and public health theories, frameworks, research and practice.

An MSW/MPH dual degree increases your career options by providing you with two sets of highly complementary skills. You'll receive two degrees generally in less time than it would take to obtain these degrees independently.

Why Study Public Health and Social Work at UNMC?

The MSW/MPH dual degree program is a collaboration between UNMC, a recognized leader in health security, implementation science, rural health and cancer prevention research, and the University of Nebraska Omaha's highly rated School of Social Work.

The dual MPH/MSW degree allows you to bridge the gap between research and practice, individual and community, services and policies. MSW courses balance clinical, administrative and community practice content, while electives offer you the opportunity to advance your knowledge and skills in your areas of interest.

You'll graduate with a rich and relevant educational background, extensive field experience and the ability to work collaboratively in many areas in the social service and health care systems. And you can complete both portions of the dual degree entirely online.
