Jennifer Burt, PhD

Jennifer "Jenny" Burt, PhD, is a licensed psychologist and Associate Professor of Psychology at the Munroe-Meyer Institute (MMI) at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and serves as Director of Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND). She also serves as Associate Director of Clinical Services and Outreach for the Department of Psychology and Coordinator of the Psychology Postdoctoral Fellowship Program. Burt brings experience across school, clinical, and community settings and has more than 15 years of experience developing interdisciplinary training programs, mentoring leaders, and advancing workforce development initiatives. Her work focuses on preparing health professionals to provide high-quality, family-centered care for children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental, behavioral, and mental health needs.

Burt's leadership, clinical, and scholarly work center on workforce development, interdisciplinary leadership training, developmental and behavioral health, and systems change. As a former LEND trainee and the LEND director, she is committed to developing future leaders who improve systems of care for children and families. Clinically, Burt specializes in the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with behavioral, emotional, developmental, and educational concerns. Her work has supported statewide initiatives in developmental monitoring, early identification, and children's mental health through service as Nebraska's CDC Learn the Signs. Act Early. Ambassador and an AAP/CDC Children's Mental Health Champion. Burt is a former Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholar and is recognized for building collaborative training programs, fostering community partnerships, and connecting leadership development with evidence-based practice to improve outcomes for children and families. Across her roles, she is committed to strengthening systems that support children, families, and communities.
