Research

Our goal isn’t scientific introspection. It is measurable, research-facilitated improvements in public health. Our department conducts research that is practical and informed by partnerships with schools, federally qualified health centers, departments of public health, health care and community organizations.

Faculty and students in our department have completed research and applied practice experiences that support community infrastructure, partnerships, and capacity.

These activities have even set the stage for local policy changes and other impacts around topics including sexual health and education, physical activity, dietary intake, substance abuse, tobacco prevention and cessation, and chronic disease prevention and self-management.

Community Health Worker Program

This unique program is helping develop a sizable community health workforce and promote its integration into local health care delivery.

CityMatCH

CityMatCH supports public health leaders and organizations in promoting equity and improving the health of urban women, families, and communities.

The Dzewaltowski Lab

Led by David A Dzewaltowski, PhD, this lab studies population health behavior outcomes important for child and family development and prevention of cancer and other chronic diseases.

NE-HEALING

NE-HEALING supports American Indian and Alaska Native communities by promoting ways of being that align with indigenous knowledge and approaches to health.
