UNMC Student Senate

The UNMC Student Senate exists for the purpose of influencing University policy and promoting the interests of all students attending UNMC. As the official representative of the student body, the Senate consists of senators from each educational unit of UNMC.

The UNMC Student Senate office is located on the second floor of Williams Science Hall. Meetings are held monthly and are open to all students and to the public. If you have questions about the Student Senate, please contact the current president or faculty advisor.

Attend the Senate Meetings

Student Senate meetings are open to all UNMC students to attend. All meetings will be on Tuesday evenings from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in MSC 2010 and on Teams. Get the Teams meeting link.

Become a Senator

Class presidents or vice-presidents automatically serve as senate representatives upon election. At-large senators are elected each year in the spring by their fellow students in Allied Health Professions, Graduate Studies, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Public Health. The president of UNMC Student Senate serves as a non-voting member of the Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska.

BOSS Proposals

Student Senate BOSS Proposals: Open Oct. 1, 2026 through April 1, 2027, for events and initiatives scheduled before September 2027.

BOSS stands for Benefiting Organizations through Student Senate, and BOSS Proposals are a fantastic opportunity for Student Senate to support you! BOSS proposals are a formal means by which the Student Senate can fund individual events and initiatives planned by student organizations.

Proposals are submitted by individual students on behalf of student organizations. They are accepted, reviewed, and evaluated by the UNMC Student Senate Issues Committee on a rolling basis. We will evaluate these proposals as they are submitted throughout the year and allocate funds as able. We are also using assistance from the Student Life Involvement and Development Office (SLIDO) to help guide you through the BOSS proposal process.

Student organizations are REQUIRED to have one student officer attend a SLIDO info session AND an officer meet with the Student Organization Activities coordinator prior to submitting a BOSS proposal to verify that all funding requests meet BOSS funding requirements.
